Waterfall Canyon Via Ferrata in Backpacker Magazine
Backpacker magazine gives some kudo’s to Ogden’s Waterfall Canyon and Via Ferrata, recognizing some of Ogden’s climbing history. The article also places Waterfall Canyon in the “TOP 3” Via Ferrata Routes in the United States. It’s a nice little gem for Ogden’s outdoor opportunites.

The article mentions Greg Lowe’s historically significant ascent of the frozen waterfall, which launched the modern era of vertical ice climbing. The article also aludes to the Climbing Parks and indicates the via ferrata fee of $35 for instruction and equipment rental. The fee is comparable to the other sites mentioned and offers equal (if not better) scenery and accessibility.
What’s up with the Via Ferrata?
Unfortunately due to what seems to be political lunacy, the Via Ferrata is still not officially opened to the public, however, the inside scoop tells me to stay tuned for a special announcement that will make the Via Ferrata routes even more popular, and even more accessible to Ogden and visitors. If you are interested in knowing more about the via ferrata, contact Jeff Lowe of Ogden Climbing Parks.

Is Waterfall Canyon still littered with gangsta spray paint and such all over the rocks?
The last time I ws in the canyon (first of the month), I didn't see any graffiti. I know what you are talking about though, there is typically quite a bit of vandalism, especially on the lower parts of the trail. You can almost count on at least once a year, someone tearing out the bridge or doing something stupid.
It seems like Weber Pathways is doing a good job of keeping the trails in shape, they may have even doen some cleanup.
